About Criw Celf West

Criw Celf West

Criw Celf West is a project that aims to develop the creative skills of artistically talented children and young people in Wales. Successful participants will take part in advance workshops called Masterclasses, which are led by professional artists and educators. The project caters for students between 9 – 18 who show an aptitude for art and is broken into 4 age strands;

  • Raising the Bar, for AS level / A level.
  • Portfolio, for school years 9, 10 and 11.
  • Criw Celf Secondary, for school years 7 and 8.
  • Criw Celf Primary, for school years 5 and 6.

Funded by the Arts Council of Wales, Criw Celf West operates in Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, with each county offering a bespoke programme.

Who Can Take Part

Criw Celf is open to any young person between the ages of 9 – 18 who show exceptional creative ability and are enthusiastic about pursuing art. We welcome applications from individuals and schools.

Masterclasses & Trips

Each strand includes a series of 5 masterclasses within a wide range of areas, led by artists and designers experienced in the field. This is an incredible opportunity to learn alongside professionals and expand your artistic skillset. Each strand also includes study trips to exhibitions, artist studios and universities further afield.

Exhibition

The artwork produced is showcased in exhibitions within galleries and HE institutions. These exhibitions provide participants with the opportunity to have their work curated and displayed in a professional space.
