Within this masterclass students developed unique designs under the theme of “The natural world in the digital age” These were created from layers of mark-making, scanned images and photoshop. The designs were then printed onto squares of fabric- using Gower College’ state of the art fabric printer, to create finished samples. In the digital design session the students explored the shapes of the natural world through marking making, digital print and digital embroidery.Their final outcome comprised of a 30cm x 30cm fabric sample of print adorned with embroidery and textile appliqué. This class provided students with a surface pattern outcome, but demonstrated the layers of design work that go into producing fabrics and textiles- from concept to final product.
